Most disorders can be prevented with proper self-care and a knowledgeable self-care team.

Prevention through Acupuncture

Although both forms of medicine have their place, Western medicine doesn't address the subtle signs and symptoms Traditional Chinese Medicine would view as early signs of disease or degeneration.

Using acupuncture, herbal medicine, and some recommended lifestyle changes, these early signs and symptoms may be addressed to prevent the progression of such conditions.

I incorporate relaxation into my acupuncture sessions to create an environment where patients can quiet down and listen to their own bodies (body awareness--a key component in qigong).

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine has been around for over 3,000 years. The World Health Organization has endorsed acupuncture for treating pain since 1979. Acupuncture helps your body heal and release restricting physical and emotional blockages.

5 Needles or Less!

Peng offers a unique approach to acupuncture. He starts with an on-the-spot assessment of your current state.

He then combines his mastery of qigong and its corresponding intuition of the body to personalize your optimal treatment--usually using only five needles or less.

Patients experience an immediate reduction in pain and increased range of motion and are shocked at how friendly acupuncture can be.

New Patient: Initial Session

Peng does a comprehensive intake session to identify your concerns. For the acupuncture treatment that follows, you lay on a massage table for anywhere between 30-45 minutes with a few needles to calm the mind and let acupuncture work its magic by aiding you in releasing blockages. Finally, Peng puts together a treatment plan and discuss options to help you attain your health goals.

Follow-Up Session

Peng does a touch base to access your current state. You then lay on the massage table for about 45 minutes with a few needles to calm the mind and let acupuncture work its magic.

What is a Typical Acupuncture Session Like?

Acupuncture has been employed as health care modality for over 5,000 years. Modern science has begun to understand the secrets of this ancient medicine with the support of new studies conducted by leading scientists, hospitals and medical research facilities from all over the world. Today, acupuncture is receiving wide acceptance as a respected, valid and effective form of health care.

According to a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, 51 percent of medical doctors understand the efficacy and value of acupuncture, and medical doctors refer patients to acupuncturists more than any other alternative care provider.

In China, a February 2013 study conducted by the Clinical Journal of Pain concluded that low back pain, the most common musculoskeletal problem, can be relieved by acupuncture with little to no adverse side effects.

A German study published in Archives of Internal Medicine covered the largest and most rigorous trial ever undertaken to investigate the analgesic effects of acupuncture versus traditional medicine approaches to relieve lower back pain. This study involved 1,802 patients and 13,475 treatments and concluded that acupuncture "constituted a strong treatment alternative to multimodal conventional therapy, giving physicians a promising and effective treatment option for chronic lower back pain.

In addition to it's effectiveness in pain control, acupuncture has a proven track record of treating a variety of endocrine, circulatory and systemic conditions.

The British medical Journal in 2013 reported acupuncture and moxibustion can increase the success rate of in-vitro fertilization and increase the number of viable pregnancies when embryo implantation has failed. The additional benefits were listed as receiving no adverse side effects and contraindications as a result of receiving acupuncture and moxibustion treatment.

In Italy, a 2016 study involving 190 breast cancer patients proved acupuncture can eliminate the need for additional drugs and is an effective method in improving the quality of life of women who have breast cancer. Acupuncture was shown to be an effective force in managing hot flashes the women received as a result of the cancer.

A 2016 study published by The Cochrane Review concluded acupuncture treatments can not only relieve the pain associated with headaches, but it can help to control or prevent migraines before they happen. Out of the 22 trials conducted, considerable evidence was shown that in addition to prophylactic drugs acupuncture should be highly considered for migraine treatment and prevention.

"There is sufficient evidence of acupuncture's value to expand its use into conventional medicine."
