About Qigong

Qigong, which is sometimes spelled Chi-Kung (and pronounced chee-gung), is the practice & study of cultivating vital-life-force through various techniques. These include: breathing techniques, postures, meditations, & guided imagery.

Qi, simply put, is "vital-life-force" or "life-force energy." It means "breath" or "air" & is an energy or collective form of energies. This vital-life-force penetrates & permeates everything in the universe. It corresponds to the Greek "pneuma," the Sanskrit "prana," or the Western medical conception of "bioelectricity."

Gong means "work" or "effort" & is the commitment an individual puts into any practice or skill that requires time, patience, & repetition to perfect.

Through study, the individual develops the ability to manipulate this energy to promote self-healing, prevent disease, and increase longevity.

Medical Qigong Therapy

medical-qigong-overview

Medical qigong therapy is the oldest of the four branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine & provides the energetic foundation from which acupuncture, herbal medicine, & Chinese massage (Tui Na) originated. Medical qigong consists of specific techniques that use the knowledge of the body's internal & external energy fields to purge, tonify, & balance these energies. Medical qigong therapy offers individuals a safe & effective way to rid themselves of toxic pathogens & years of painful emotion that would otherwise cause physical & mental illness.

About 5,000 years ago, qigong masters of the time were considered Sages. These masters developed clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience & other super natural abilities through their cultivation of qi (energy). When looking at the sick they saw deviations in energy & were able to correct these deviations. These abilities provided the substantial energetic foundation of meridians & acupuncture points that acupuncturists use effectively today.

Medical Qigong Sessions

Individual results will vary according to your constitution, diet, exercise, stress levels, lifestyle, etc.

What determines the speed of my recovery?

There are two factors that determine the speed of your recovery.  These are Duration and Level of Severity.  If your injury or discomfort is fairly new—anything that spans within a 1-3 month period, the results are faster and will take anywhere between 1-5 sessions to notice progress.  If the Level of Severity is mild to moderate this will also speed the recovery.

More chronic or long-standing cases vary according to your specific condition.  However, anything that has accumulated over time and became worse over time requires more frequent sessions.  If it took years of accumulation it will require more sessions and lifestyle changes.
